"The 2030 Agenda calls on us to renew our efforts in providing access to
adequate sanitation worldwide," said the UN Secretary-General, Ban
Ki-moon on
World Toilet Day (19 November). He urged the world to work
together and have an open frank discussion on the importance of toilets
and sanitation. World Toilet Day marked the conclusion of a
three-day-focus on water and sanitation at the UN Headquarters that
included the final meeting of the
UN Secretary-General's Advisory Board on Water and Sanitation (UNSGAB) (final report here ), the Second United
Nations Special Thematic Session on Water
and Disasters and a High-level debate on the linkages between sanitation
and nutrition
organized by the Permanent Mission of Singapore to the United Nations and UN-Water.
